The Treofan research and technology centre (R&T) is located in Neunkirchen/Saar (Germany), where over 30 scientists and technicians make up a visionary and highly dedicated team of experts, working on the technical management of existing products, as well as developing innovative films for the future.
Treofan’s R&T team is equipped with a full range of stretching equipment and pilot lines allowing the seamless and rapid development of innovative technologies from lab to semi-commercial production scale – an advantage that sets us apart from the competition in the BOPP sector.
In close co-operation with raw material suppliers, converters and customers, Treofan is able to commercialise numerous new and ground-breaking products that have been and will be trendsetters in their respective market segments.
Cutting edge products that have emerged from the R&T centre include the label film EUH, which is today’s leading global product for in-mould labeling, PHD, the high temperature thin capacitor grade and top performing film due to its outstanding quality and electrical performance, as well as our thin tobacco shrink films such as ZSA 16, providing highest quality and material efficiency with a runability down to 16 micron.
Treofan’s most recent development, based on our capacitor film and voided film technology, is microporous BOPP known as Treo-Pore®. Treo-Pore® films combine the highest porosity and permeability values with high and balanced mechanical strength.
With our Treo-Pore® technology, customer focused separators for use in Li-batteries and double layer capacitors are developed and now commercialised in the market. This technology allows Treofan to play a key role in the growing market of sustainable and efficient energy use.
