Treofan is a partner in the HiT-Cell research project
Raunheim, GERMANY, 3 May 2018 – Based on its tried-and-tested nano-porous TreoPore separator film, the BOPP film specialist Treofan is developing a low-loss, thermally stable and safe separator for lithium-ion battery cells as part of the HiT-Cell (High-Temperature Cell) research project. The aim is to develop a temperature-stable lithium-ion battery for all mobile and stationary applications.

Strategic development of the European locations and the film portfolio
Raunheim, GERMANY, 13 March 2018 – The owner of Treofan Holdings GmbH, the Italian investor M&C, has announced the sale of the Treofan Americas business to Canadian label manufacturer CCL Industries. The legally binding agreement was signed on Thursday, 8th March. CCL Industries' acquisition of Treofan Americas is expected to close in the second quarter of 2018, subject to regulatory approval and closure procedures. The purchase price, including the acquisition of a new production line currently under construction, is approximately $251 Million (approx. 205 Million EUR).

New solution with 70 µm thickness for high-performance applications
Raunheim, GERMANY, October 24, 2017 – BOPP film specialist Treofan is adding a new, 70 µm film product to its portfolio of EUP high-performance in-mold labeling films. Matt on both sides, the EUP70 technology platform was specially developed to meet the demanding requirements of sheet-fed offset printing. Its high stiffness enables especially high processing speeds with excellent quality, while the low density ensures optimal area yield. Until now, the EUP product family was available in thicknesses of 50 µm (EUP50) and 60 µm (EUP60).

New Brückner line will enhance film and metallizing capacity and capabilities
Winston-Salem, USA / Raunheim, GERMANY, June 20, 2017 – Treofan, a leading manufacturer of specialty biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, is investing USD 45m in a new 5- layer, 10.4m orientation line at its Americas plant in Zacapu, Mexico. The new asset, due to begin operation in the fourth quarter of 2018, will result in a net capacity increase of some 30,000 tons per year or 50% of the plant's current capacity as an existing small line from 1992 will be mothballed.

Growing proportion of specialty films is driving profitability
Frankfurt am Main, May 31, 2017 – BOPP film specialist Treofan is successfully continuing its strategic realignment course, as confirmed today by CEO Dr. Walter Bickel at the company's annual press meeting in Frankfurt am Main. In the 2016 business year, Treofan's adjusted EBITDA grew to €38 million (2015: €32m) with a largely stable sales volume of 157 kilotons (2015: 155 kT), representing a doubling of profits within two years. Bickel expects a further improvement in 2017. Specialty films made up 72 percent of the sales volume, up three percentage points from 2015; Bickel stated that the target for 2017 is 75 percent.

Düsseldorf/Raunheim, May 4, 2017 – Treofan Group is installing a new €7.5 million highperformance coater at its Battipaglia site in Italy, significantly enhancing its ability to produce specialty films. Scheduled to enter operation in the second quarter of 2018, the line is designed to deliver an annual volume of 4,000 metric tons of specialty film with a wide variety of coatings. It is being installed by high-quality Swiss supplier Bobst.

This role will be filled by Luigi Martinese (49), who has been with Treofan since 1995 and has been responsible for the Group's Italian sites for over 15 years. One billion square meters of premium film a year
Raunheim/Neunkirchen, Germany, October 16, 2015 – BOPP film specialist Treofan's new high-performance plant, at the company's Neunkirchen site in the German state of Saarland, is entering series production. 8.7 meters wide, the production line boasts an annual capacity of up to a billion square meters of premium five-layer label and packaging film. That's equivalent to a daily output of around 2.7 million square meters – roughly the area of 400 football pitches.
